Update from Friars Pride MD Rebecca Lord
We are still amid the COVID-19 pandemic and its important to be mindful of this as we reopen our delivered service.
As a responsible family run business I will continue to put the welfare and safety of all my people and customers at the fore of business, and this was the very reason I took the decision to temporarily close our delivered service after the initial lock down was announced.
Although the Government has announced a further lock down for at least 3 weeks, it is fantastic to see some fish & chip shops adapt and change their operations and reopen safely to offer click & collect and delivered takeaway services. Over the weekend the Secretary of State congratulated businesses that ‘have taken up the opportunity to switch to offering delivery, takeaway and click and collect services’. We will place some case studies on our website of some excellent shops who have successfully adapted their operation to open safely. If you would like to share any ideas or new processes for best practice – we would love to hear from you and will make this available on our website and social media.
At Friars Pride we remain very passionate about the fish & chip trade, like you, it is our business, our livelihood and our future. Fish & Chips should remain the nation’s favourite takeaway and we need to ensure our customers who are open or re-opening have the service and products they require.
In response to this, we have opened delivery routes from all our depots, and these will increase as our customers re-open. These deliveries may be on different days than you are used to until more businesses open. Our Call & Collect service has been very successful from all our 7 depots and we will continue to operate this.
To keep you and our delivery drivers safe throughout the continued lockdown, we have had to adapt some processes to follow new government guidelines on social distancing.
All our delivery drivers have been issued with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, hand sanitiser and face mask visors.
Deliveries will only be made with one driver in the cab.
We will place your delivery outside your shop door, or in your designated ‘delivery area’.
During the pandemic for safety reasons we would prefer to take card payments.
All of this is to enable us to offer you the excellent products and a responsible delivery service to support your business through COVID-19 and the extended lockdown. Whilst most importantly protecting the lives of our people and you – our valued customers.
Together we will get through this stronger, thank you for your support.
